Cleaning your printer head usually needs to happen when the printer gets clogged and print quality is affected. Even the most non tech people on earth can do it the right way the first time if they follow some simple instructions! A word of caution though, cleaning the printer head consumes printer ink.

Here are some of the easy tips to do it the right way and helps you prevent wasting ink.

Use Nozzle Check

Utilizing the nozzle check utility cleaning enables you to be sure that your printer heads are in need of cleaning or not. This saves more ink. If the ink light is flashing then it could be time to clean the printer head.

Maintenance Option

Turn on your printer and click Start Button and choose control panel.  Under printing preferences tick maintenance. Ensure that there are still papers (scratch or use the back of used paper) before clicking execute. DO NOT turn off or restart printer while maintenance is ongoing since it will completely damage the computer.

Soak Method

Soak tip in water and use to brush the printer heads.

Cleaning Kit

Using cleaning kit to clean your printer is another method of keeping the printer head clean.

Tip: Ammonia can remove dried ink from printer heads. Covering your printer when not in use is also a big help in preventing the ink from drying, and stopping dust and other harsh elements from getting inside your printer

While it’s easy to clean the printer head, it’s essential to perform this preventive measure on your printer. Do not allow your printer to rest with empty cartridges. A simple solution is to print regularly – 1 or 2 page would suffice. Doing this would use up printer ink but ensures the ink wont dry – therefore reducing your total use over the life of the ink cartridge
